In 2022, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Buffalo and Kanazawa which began in 1962. In Japanese culture this 60 year mark is known as kanreki (還暦), meaning “return of the calendar,” referring to the restarting of the 60 year cycle used in Chinese-influenced calendars. We organized the following events and projects to mark this occasion.
